My sister Lisa, the author
My sister Lisa Wright DeGroodt is also an author. She's written several books in her Quest series, fantasy novels about an alternate land where good battles evil with the help of ordinary humans.

Lisa was just featured on the Leaky Cauldron’s weekly Pottercast. Leaky Cauldron is the official Harry Potter podcast and is one of the top podcasts on I-tunes. The episode is now available for downloading: http://pottercast.the-leaky-cauldron.org

She mentions how I sent her the first Harry Potter book and told her she had to read it because it was the same genre she was writing in. I'm just editing her 5th book now, Land Quest, and it's great. Charm Quest, the 4th book is going to be published in a couple of weeks. Her website is here. Check it out!

Two Wonderful Artist's

I have a daughter whom I find to be very creative. She deffinatly has her own P.O.V. in looking at the world. What did you parents do to help you and your sister have the courage to strike out and do your own things as artist's?

Re: Two Wonderful Artist's

My parents are wonderfully supportive. The phrase I heard most often growing up was - "You can be anything you want to be." If you hear that enough, you believe it. They really encouraged our artistic efforts, and anything we wanted to try, they made sure we got classes or they found a way for us to express ourselves that way. My mom encouraged our imagination in every way. They also gave us books when we got good grades. My whole family are avid readers, always with books in our hands.

Re: Two Wonderful Artist's

It looks like I am on the right track then. She has books of all kinds. Plus, all the art supplies she can use. Plus, a good ear to listen to all of her great ideas.

Thanks for letting me know! I've fixed it.

I was just about to edit my comment to give you the correction. I notice that many people forget to include the "http://" part when putting links in to their post/comments/replies which causes LJ to makeup an incorrect link.
